First Visit
We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. This visit will include a comprehensive examination of the teeth, jaws and muscles in order to diagnose your orthodontic concern. During the initial examination, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment: (we encourage you to ask questions as well)
- Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?
- Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
- What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
- Do any permanent teeth need to be removed?
- How long will treatment take?
- Approximately how much will it cost?
- What are my payment options?
While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we must obtain diagnostic records in order to design a comprehensive treatment plan.
A separate appointment will then be scheduled to gather diagnostic records which include digital x-rays, digital photos, and impressions of your teeth to create study models. It is important to measure, analyze, and study each patient’s records in order to provide a concise and superior treatment plan.
We will then schedule a consultation visit to discuss treatment options, time frames and financial arrangements. You will have the opportunity to view your digital photos and x-rays on specialized computer software. Our goal is that our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of and how long it will take. Also, we will answer any additional questions at this time.
** Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:
- Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months (if available.)
- Your patient information sheet filled out (which we have mailed you prior to your appointment)
- If you have orthodontic insurance, please bring your insurance information; we provide guidance in filling out any forms to send to your insurance company. It is also helpful if you contact them before your appointment to determine what your coverage will be.
At our office, we emphasize that each patient’s orthodontic treatment is unique and we promise to give you the personal attention that you deserve!
